Pastor of Church life
Position Type:         Ministry Staff
FLSA:                         Exempt
Reports To:              Senior Pastor
Time-Reporting:      Full-time, Salaried

Qualifications:
  • He shall be of good reputation and established Christian character, well qualified for his duties as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • He shall have a B.A. in Ministry and previous compatible work experience
  • He shall be licensed or ordained with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) or agree to pursue such licensing or ordination
  • He shall fully endorse the EFCA Statement of Faith and REFUGE Constitution
  • He shall regularly teach and disciple in biblical principles by lesson, sermon and example
  • He shall maintain proper boundaries and relationships to protect himself from compromising situations and appearances of favoritism or evil

Responsibilities:
As a member of the Pastoral staff at REFUGE, it is expected that he will assume pastoral/shepherding responsibilities to meet the needs of the flock based on schedule availability and skill set.  He shall be responsible for development (recruitment, training, and support), leadership and oversight in the following major areas of ministry.  In addition, he will participate in other ministries and tasks as needed and assigned.


Adult equipping and assimilation:
  • Small group “Connexion” ministry
  • Welcome ministry team (ushers, greeters, welcome center, prayer corner)
  • Discipleship process for new followers of Jesus Christ
  • Provide opportunities for regular missions and service projects
  • Benevolence ministry, including the disbursement of resources
  • Participate in local and global partner care
  • Build relationships with and provide opportunities for adults and families to develop deeper spiritual relationships with Jesus Christ

Office guidance and facility focus:
  • Oversee all office staff in daily tasks to ensure efficient operation
  • Manage REFUGE insurance policies and other vendor contacts  
  • Provide oversight of building care and usage

Technology and social media:
  • Oversee church technology (computers, web site, and the like)
  • Oversee church social media and advertising

Off campus ministry and outreach:
  • Provide authentic teaching and modeling in the area of outreach and evangelism
  • Participate as a volunteer in the Refuge region
